How to be Minimalistic with your Bedroom & Wardrobe.

Let’s Start with the bed.

Tip 1. Less Pillows. Most people feel the need to have lots of pillows on their bed. By removing some of them you will create space and create Minimalist style Bed.

Tip 2. Double or king Size single beds are a great idea for a single minimalist, and if you are in a relationship double is great but some people may need a queen.

Lets go over the the wardrobe

Over the past few seasons, I have found myself wearing the same pair of dark wash jeans on a regular basis. Presently, I am opting for shorts, as it is quite hot and muggy here in Melbourne. But when it was still cold, I was reaching for that same pair of dark wash jeans almost every morning.

Most of us have many pairs of pants stored in our bedroom closets and drawers, but I think dark wash jeans are the only trousers you truly need if you just want to have one pair of pants. I have more than one pair of pants by the way. I actually have three other pairs and two of them are mostly worn for special occasions.

So, without further delay, here are a few reasons why a simple pair of dark wash jeans should be an essential item in your wardrobe:

  1. They are extremely versatile. Dark wash jeans are one of those classic clothing staples. They can be worn on almost any occasion. I am not a fashion expert, but I think that you can wear them in slightly more formal contexts (like a night on the town) because the darker denim can be dressed up. For example, I can easily go out to a nice restaurant while wearing them with a simple button-down shirt and I’ll look quite respectable. On the other hand, jeans that are more faded seem to be best suited for casual circumstances because they can look a little too casual in these aforementioned “slightly more chic” occasions. Obviously, dark wash jeans can’t replace your formal wear, but they can be worn for all sorts of affairs. You can also wear them to go run some errands or go for a walk around your neighborhood because they combine well with casual clothes too.
  2. The odd stain won’t be very visible. Here in Canada, we sometimes have to walk through slushy and dirty snow near the roads during the winter months. I tend to always have a few spots of slush and salt at the bottom of my pant legs, especially when I have to splash through some slush while running to catch a bus. However, I find that these stains are barely noticeable on my dark wash jeans. This means that I can get away with wearing them a few extra days before putting them in the wash again. The dark color of the denim seems to mask spots and stains.
  3. Having a pair of pants that you can count on and wear often (or even every day) is very practical. This last point might not have to do with the dark wash jeans themselves, but wearing the same pair jeans every day would certainly make things simpler. There would be one less thing to think about in the morning. All you’d have to do is choose your top and you’d be all dressed and ready for the day. As a matter of fact, Joshua Becker has a post on his blog where he mentions the “capsule wardrobe” movement and talks about the benefits wearing the same thing every day. I encourage you to check it out. It’s a pretty interesting read!

Given these points, dark wash jeans might not blend in with your personal style.  There is a chance that you simply might not like them or you might find that the dark blue denim just doesn’t match well with your clothes color-wise. I’m sure that there are alternatives out there that are just as practical and versatile.

What do you think? Do you agree with me? Should dark wash jeans be an essential part of your minimalist wardrobe? Are there other types of pants that you think are just as functional?  As I said, I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to fashion so it would be nice to have your input.
